In Egypt, Giza, 1928, a colossal coverstone is uncovered, which houses a stone ring underneath it. The expedition commissioner's daughter takes an amulet inscribed with the wadjet of Ra from a work table at the site. In the present day, Egyptologist Daniel Jackson is approached at a symposium by an old woman wearing the Ra necklace and is offered the chance to translate Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs that may prove his theories that the pyramids weren't built in the 4th Dynasty. Curious, Jackson accepts before being given tickets to an Air Force installation.
