Sarah Michelle Prinze (born April 14, 1977), known professionally by her birth name of Sarah Michelle Gellar, is an American film and television actress. She became widely known for her role as Buffy Summers on the WB/UPN television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Sarah Michelle Gellar was named Maxim magazine's woman of the year 2008.

Has a tattoo of a Chinese symbol for integrity on her lower back. Has a heart with a dagger hanging over it tattooed on the inside of her right ankle. Has a brown belt in Tae Kwon Do. One of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in 1998. Voted by FHM readers the No 3 sexiest woman in the world in 2000.

Buffy Summers

Sarah Michelle Gellar debuts in her breakout role as Buffy Summers, a suburban teen who battles the undead in the WB's Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The supernatural show strikes a cord with audiences, making Gellar a household name. "Buffy's a total individual. She proves you don't have to fit in," she tells Teen. "You can be different and still find happiness."

- Buffy Summers is a fictional character from Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer franchise. She first appeared in the 1992 film Buffy the Vampire Slayer before going on to appear in the television series and subsequent comic book of the same name. The character has also appeared in the spin-off series Angel, as well as numerous non-canon expanded universe material, such as novels, comics, and video games. Buffy was portrayed by Kristy Swanson in the film, and later by Sarah Michelle Gellar in the television series.

Horror

Away from the tube, Gellar appears in consecutive teen horror hits Scream 2 and I Know What You Did Last Summer, with Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Prinze Jr. The following year, she cements her "It" girl status with her first appearance on PEOPLE's 'Most Beautiful' list.

Gellar returns to her scream-queen roots in the thriller The Grudge. Karen is an exchange student studying social work in Japan who innocently agrees to cover for a nurse who didn't show up for work. When she enters the assigned home, she discovers an elderly American woman, Emma who is lost in a catatonic state while the rest of the house appears deserted and disheveled.
